easy easy lol. Im talking about the breather filter hé mentioned, not an airfilter.K&N are the worst filters ? Is this a serious statement ?K&N filter IS the worst lol. It restricts the breathing even more.
Thats a road weekend racer car, not a real roadcar and you know it ;)

What breather filters are on this Engine..........

Pg 425 of the Yellow David Vizard Bible makes very interesting reading. I'd suggest Dusky goes out and buys a copy of this most excellent book or if he has one to have a look at the section on Crank Case Ventilation. One of David Vizards recommendations are for K&N vent filters which he says are ideal for the job.
David Vizard is without question one of the Masters of A-Series tuning.
The breathing system on mine has a large hose between the clutch breather to the rocker cover and from there I've a large hose going off to a catch tank under the passenger side wing. This is the same system as used by Swiftune.
My brother has implemented David Vizards evacusump crankcase pressure reducing system on his race Mini.

I've got the blue book, he must have changed his opinion then ;)
I recall people on here saying you need postive ventilation to prevent your flywheel seal going every fe days, it seems those poeple have changed their opinion too ( not naming anyone).
This being said I'll remove the breather pipes and leave them to the atmosphere under the wings and keep em rustfree as Peter said ;)

I have a turbo engine. I have a 1" breather from the crankcase going to the rocker cover, amother 1" breather from the transfer case to the rocker cover. Then a 1" breather from the top of the rocker cover to a catch can under the wing. It has a k&n breather filter on it.
When I drained it the other day it had a clear liquid in it like water. Smelt a bit oily/petroly though.
Is this normal?
Thanks
Josh

Is there a more noticeable oily smell about the car when it's run with breather filters in place of the pipework that leads to the carb? Only ask because I disconnected the breather pipe to my carb and extended it down so it was hanging just below the engine, blocked off the breather pipe on the carb and went for a short run then back to the house, this was to check if there was any change in the readout on my AFR gauge. I immediately reconnected the pipework as there was a good whiff of oily type smell about the car, is it like this when filters are being used?

It doesn't smell when in the car. Just I smelt it when I drained it out.
I did a bit of reading about catch tanks in general. I think it's where the engine fumes are warm and the catch tank is cold. It's basically condensation. Am I on the right track? Either way it goes fine so I'm not too concerned. Just suprised there was anything in it as it's only done 500 miles lol.
