Hi, potentially (another) silly question but here goes...  I managed to break my clutch reservoir cap in two when I was fitting a new air filter. I found and bought a replacement from Mini Spares, which is identical except the thread seems different and it won't fit. >_<

Has anyone else hit this problem before?  I've found alternative suppliers but the caps are all appear the same as the replacement I've already got....  currently considering super-gluing the old cap back together but I'd rather fit a new one, if possible

The centre can sometimes come out of the cap have you tried pushing it back in?

Cheers for the response, Wiggy. Mine doesn't have a centre to to push back in?  This was the replacement: MiniSpares.  As I say, its identical in every possible shape and size except the thread...

Just a bit stumped how to get round it without having to fit an entirely new master cylinder for the sake of a £3 cap. Hmmmn

Bummer.

Do you have a plastic tank on yours?

Perhaps in the short term, glue it back together, but I think your best option for a replacement cap would be to look second hand.

The recent ones do seem to have a crap thread on them. but usually fit with a bit of patience.  You need to inspect the thread and see if there is any flashing or bad moulding that needs filing away.

Good advice. I'll have another bash at fitting the one I've got, if not I'll glue the old one as a temp measure... On the brightside, replacing the master cylinder will be a good learning experience. Thanks all.
