When I reverse my mk1 out of the garage on to the drive the n/s front wheel always sits at a wonky angle, but reversing it onto the road and back again it sits ok. Drives very nicely and has just passed an MOT so any ideas? Have had the wheel off to investigate and all seems to be ok, but does this every time.

Is it sitting higher in the left pic? When you've been out it looks like it settles back to normal and suspension is properly aligned.

Have you really checked the tie bar and lower arm bushes on that side carefully. Also check that the tie bar nut at the front of the subframe is tight

All the bushes were new when it was restored last year and just checked the tie bar nut, and it's tight. MOT man didn't find anything wrong with it but can't be right? Think it's just the camera angle that makes the ride height look different in the two pics.

If it's not the ride height, then something is loose or worn somewhere to make the camber change like that.

Could be the Toe adjustment being out. If it was set Toe IN, then it could do that, as it's reversed, the wheels will have a tendency to steer away from each other, Viki-verca when driven forward.
What does the other wheel do?

Other wheel stays where it should. Worth getting the tracking done? There's no abnormal wear on the tyres.
