I'm looking at the Specialist components K1100 conversion but was wondering how this might affect engine life? Would it need rebuilding very frequently, or should it last longer than your average 1380 engine?

I built my k1100 turbo engine about 7 years ago and it's now on its first freshen up build, new rings, bearings etc. This was more maintenance than actually needing it. I covered about 20k in this time, and these we hard driving miles, track days, drags strips etc.

They make for a very nice engine on the road or track, unbelievably smooth running engines.

Depends on how it's driven and maintained.

Turbo too - that sounds amazing. I'm looking at the 135bhp version with 4 throttle bodies.
