I'm just getting along nicely refitting all the bits and pieces back on the newly refurbished Body of my Mini Thirty. I got it back from the Body Shop just over a week ago, and I'm fairly pleased with how the jobs going along. I thought that I'd start at the back end and move forwards, the rear Sub Frame is on, the Radius Arms are on, my new Hi-Lo's are in place, the rear brakes are on, all the Brake Pipes and Hoses plus the Fuel Pipe are complete and I'm just waiting for the Hubs to come back from the Powder Coaters. The brake Drums, Wheels with Tyres and Wheel Nuts are standing by, then the back end is done.
While I at it I thought I'd put the fuel tank back in, no problems, a 10 minute job I thought. Oh dear, it's a bloody nightmare, a job so easy. I've put it in the breather pipe through the floor, the fuel pipe through the floor just in front of it, the Wires connected to the Sender Unit and the Filler Nozzle with the packing ring and Rubber Grommet is through the hole with the Fuel Cap on. Great, er! No, not really. At the back there is on the Tank edge the sort of lip that's Spot Welded, with a hole in it. There is also a mounting point on the floor with a Captive Nut on it. I've put a bolt through these two holes, obviously where it should be, tightened it all up, Job done. No it's not! Sodding thing. The lip is too far back and the Bloody Boot Lid won't shut.
I haven't fitted the Tank Strap yet. But even if I do it won't make a difference as if it eases it forward, the Bolt won't line up at the back.
HAS ANYBODY ELSE HAD THIS HAPPEN. PLEASE GIVE ME A CLUE.
