Ive been given a competition electric fule pump.

it will need reconditiong how hard will this be to do?

I have just fitted a Spi so it has an electrical fule pump but it didnt come with the engine.

could i firt the mechnical fule pump off my 1100 or is it worth reconditioning the electric pump.

A mechanical fuel pump is not capable of supplying an injection system. When you say you have a reconditionable competition pump what do you mean? Is it an interuptor or an SU pump or something? Generally rebuildable pumps are old design pumps designed to run multiple carbs, at low pressure but with high flow. These won't be capable of supplying injection systems either. What type of pump is it? Got a name or a picture?

There is no real need for an electric pump for almost standard tune engines with carbs. The mechanical one off the 1100 if its in good condition to start with will be fine.

As for reconditioning the electric pump, what is it, a picture can speak a million words, unless its the SU pump I dont know if it can be rebuilt.

Stick with the mechanical pump for now

yes sorry about the confustion, i have fitted a Spi and have converted it to carbs.

the pump is one of those big ones that fit in the boot.

ill get a photo as soon as possable.

thats just it, Dan said it. Its no longer SPi as its carb. The engine is the same as a carb engine the only difference is the way it is fueled.

What im trying to say is:

I have fitted a Spi 1275, which when in the orignal car had an electric fule pump.

What im asking is weather i could fit my mechnical fule pump of my 1100 or weather i should recondition an electric fule pump, and how hard it is to recondition it,

But you haven't fitted the Single Point Injection (Spi)?

You've fitted a 1275 engine, and it's running a carb?

If so, then a mechanical pump will do, but the block might not have a hole for it!

As for this "reconditionable" pump, what type is it, it might be cheaper to buy a new pump than the bits to recondition it!
