Can a 190mm clutch disc be fitted to a 998? The current one is 180mm but it looks like a 190mm could be fitted after measuring the flywheel and pressure plate surface ( it measures about 192mm ) or is that gap there for a reason?

Thanks

There doesn't seem to be any dimensional reason why the 180 mm & 190 mm clutch plates cannot be interchangeable although I've never done it.

For a 998 there would be no advantage and even the Turbo engine cars (Metro) only use a 180 mm.

In fact, the 190 mm might well need a stronger diaphragm spring to make the contact pressure per sq. mm. correct.

Could an ap turbo clutch plate be used on a 998?

I would look to a stronger diaphragm before the plate.

It's high torque which kills clutches and/or a high 1st gear. A 998 is unlikely to suffer from that.

So do you think an AP clutch plate for a Turbo would be ok (180mm) only asking realy as it seems to be £12 cheaper than a normal plate....
