Thought I'd start up a project thread finally after owning the car for almost 2 years now!

It isn't going to be a fast project. Just a steadily changing daily driver

The spec

1980 austin mini clubman estate
Bill Richards 1330cc engine rolling roaded at 105bhp
Race head (stage 4) ,roller rockers, straight cut gearbox, mega pistons, piper cam, venier pully, turbo crank wedged and balanced
12x5 revolution wheels
maniflow straight through exhaust with a stainless steel manifold
Single fibreglass rear door with a single Perspex rear window
On the interior are a pair of cobra classic low back bucket seats and a dash wrapped in green and black carbon fibre vinyl and a custom made back seat delete kit, although have no pictures as of yet.

When I first got it, it had a horrendous fibreglass front bumper which was removed as soon as I got it home
Unfortunately have no decent pictures of it fitted

The pictures..

This was soon after I got it, ride height was a bit high and the front looked bare without a bumper fitted

The next big show I went to was London to Brighton 2014 as had a few minor problems with it which needed attention

This is my favourite picture of the car I have :)

imagejpg10_zps50967d20.jpg

As you can see I had done a few little bits to the aesthetics of the car, tinted headlights, chrome bumper and I re sprayed the grill to look more mean

My friend then took this awesome shot of me pulling into l2b

image.jpg1_zpsn1c0cyti.jpg

everything then went a bit quiet progress wise as I took on another car for a daily and the mini just sat in the garage

But having lots of aspiring photographer friends is always handy when you love your car

This was rolling to fast show earlier this year

image.jpg1_zpslhby9nqr.jpg

I then got a proper camera and started taking it on as a hobby

image.jpg2_zpsb5ndrkwk.jpg

And went to a few car meets and had a few more photos

image.jpg1_zpszlmcm1yu.jpg

That's been it really. As you can see I sourced a roof rack and refurbed it in satin black myself

Thanks for the read guys
Hope you enjoy

Ah nice to see someone else has both!
Yes I do have the bini but it needs a dodgy mot done to it so it's off the road! Hopefully I'll make it to the south east meet though this time!

Love it though, modified car nuts like that I can keep up with them, old people like it because it's old and they had one at some point and kids love it because it's bean colours lol

All round love

So this happened the other day..

706ddcaf33b8a5a1be66cb12eda59155_zps8yvj

image.jpg1_zpsn9zagqr1.jpg

After removing the rad I found the problem was something rubbing on the bottom of it and a had made a hole leading to water loss and a head gasket failure. After changing both the rad and gaskets everything was sorted and it stopped drinking so much oil

Spent all evening after work getting things sorted so I could make it to a car show the next day and made it there without a problem

So been thinking about building a false floor for the boot and rear seat area as they are removed and would tidy the whole interior up

What materials would do the trick?
Marine ply?
How thick?

Also anyone ever found a template for van load space knocking about?
Or template for door cards? The estate are larger than saloon

Really like the look of this! As for false floor, make a cardboard template, transfer to like 4/5mm Ply/MDF, then personally I'd cover that with hard wood flooring for the looks :D

Yeah I have a few ideas with what to cover it in lol
Yeah but have never had any joy with cardboard templates, they're always wrong lol and too diddly. Not found a easy way to do it

And yes I'd love my barn door too.....if it frickin opened!!!!! Grrr

Looks good, not sure on the arches and wheel combo though.

It doesn't open ?!

Probably due to the hinges on both sides

Nor am I, I have a set of 10x7 split rims to go on but am undecided whether they'll go well with it or to butcher the arches up
will change arches once I have decent wheels on it

No the door is bolted shut for some reason (previous owner did it)
