I have fitted Hilos and the shorter length GAZ adjustables to my soon to be finished mini.

Is it common practice to make modifications to the bump stops? or are there differnent stops available when lowering your mini?

Take the big flat washer off from underneath them and cut the point off the bump stop enogh to give you some travel. Some say take them off but they help stop the wheel hitting the body work in severe bump conditions.

If its so low that the wheel hits the body work, its too low.

Ways round it, cut the wings and inner arches

DON'T Modify the bump stop, unless youve re-engineered the suspension geometry the bump stop will stop the ball joint pin breaking on full bump!

The results are rather serious! Tyre rubbing is a minor problem in comparsion to the hubs detaching from the suspension!!!!!!!

It is worth checking that the ball joints don't bind-up with the suspension fully compresses.

I have always found that with the bumpstop removed the top ball joint hits the subframe before it binds up. And you'd probably hit the minimum compression of the shock first too.

If it is on lowered shockers, could it need different top shocker mounts? Could it be a lack of travel due to the damper 'topping out'???

I am gonna have a butchers at it when I get chance so I can scratch me head a bit. :D
