Ive been living in rural France for 8 years now, and have had a Chevy day Van, '56 Chevy Wagon, Jeep Wrangler, BMW 5 series, 1.9 Clio diesel and ive been happy just to pootle around, enjoying the scenery.

Now this is finished, I just want to tear around the place like a loony, and at 55yrs old its not very becoming ahem......

Is it because of the go cart type handling, or the dreams of Monte Carlo Wins....all to the music from the Italian Job?

No idea, but I love it!

Do the same in my Swift Sport. As its handling is very similar to the Minis.

Love the van, Chopper. Proper job.

Firstborn & I are restoring a barn-find 1967 model with tweaked engine (1330 cross-flow) and by the time it's ready next year, I too will be 55. Can't wait!

 On a narrow road rear my house, the council decided to design a slalom course for me, or is it a 'traffic calming measure', I can't remember. :shifty: You have to go right over the other side of the road. 10-15 MPH officer, honest. :shy:

Chopper

I spent many years in Bordeaux

French roads are a motorists dream

once I got stopped by two policemen in a 'plain clothes' police car

they jumped out and said can we take a picture of you and your vehicule

my jaw dropped - sure I said

they didn't say anything else jumped back in the car and drove off

I think many French policemen love classic vehicules - but you don't want to hurt anyone

a friend of mine went round a bend where a group of people were picking mushrooms in the hedgerow

he thought he was going to hit them so he ended up in the ditch, I think he did the right thing

but that slowed him down a bit for a while anyway

my main rule of thumb was that if the guy in front of you was wearing a berret - keep your distance ;)

I think its because your closer to the road, the responsive steering and handling, and its just loads of fun !
