Son reports trouble with his car so I take it for a run. Lots of clutch judder and a deep throaty noise.
Once up on the ramps I can see what I think is the problem or at least the cause. Seems the lower engine mounts and the exhaust braket have gone. That seems an easy enough fix but I noticed other problems.
Oil seal on clutch arm has perished and I'm told this can allow the oil to contaminate the clutch plate and cause the judder.
The speedo is just spinning all the way round. Does that sound like a damaged cable?
I can do straight forward repairs myself but only to DIY level. I would really like to drop the car off and have these issues sorted properly, particularly if it needs a new clutch plate.
Does anyone know of a reputable mini repairer in the Walsall area of the Midlands and what kind of cost I will be expecting? It'll be a ball park figure I know.
Thanks in advance.

Not sure which oil seal you mean - you can't see the clutch one without removing the flywheel. Perhaps it's the boot on the slave cylinder? If it is it no big worry, but worth replacing. Just unbolt the cylinder and lift it off the pushrod to gain access.

Same with the speedo, do you mean the needle is doing laps? Does the odometer work?

Sorry for slow reply. Bit of a family crisis. All good now.
Think you're right with oil seal. Think its bush on slave cylinder.
Def needs new bushes on engine steady bars.
Speedo is doing laps. New cable required.

If the speedo is spinning like a propeller then it's going to be stuffed. There's a tiny spring in there that will be history now. If its turning then the cable is OK, might need clean 'n lube before speedo is replaced/fixed.
Bad engine mounts and/or steadies can make a minor clutch shudder seem horrendous.
