Hi everyone. I want to upgrade cooling on my '97 MPI Cooper. Which is the best alloy radiator available for the front mounting fitment? What do miglia racer use? Thank you all.

Why are you upgrading, as the stock mpi radiator does a very good job at cooling, just my personal opinion?

I'm going to trying out a Chinese alloy mpi rad from eBay soon when I fit my 1380, hopefully should be an improvement with increased capacity.

I'm upgrading because my engine is far from stock. It's in full group A specification.

I can see that Radtec do produce a metro alloy radiator that can be front mounted. Anyone have an experience with Radtec's products(or similar ones)?

you will need to change you hoses and mounting points.

not sure that is will clear the distribtion block for the ignition. or the oil filter.

just cause it is front mount means little.

Hi.

http://radtec.co.uk/...66/MPI-Mini.htm

It says that fitment remains the same. I have no experience with this brand and I live in Italy so I can't go look with my eyes. Does anyone know about Radtec(or any other good quality alternative)?

Radtec make a LOT of radiators for group A rally cars. Very well known company.

I would like to see some performance figures for that. As I just see it as a very expensive replacement rad.

So you have tried your current rad? How does it behave?

My engine is still on the bench so I didn't have any chance to try it. I'm expecting 120-130 HP so I can only assume that the original one can't cope with that output. It's better to go for an oversized, alloy one.

In my experience, I've never found a cheap, good quality, reliable alloy radiator..

You will be suprised how well they can work. As you have a rad I would be fitting it and seeing if you have a problem.

I never had any issues with the old rads with more power that that and I have been impressed with my MPI one.

The only thing I would add to any build now is an electric water pump to keep the water flowing after engine switch off.

Would love to know the spec and injection set up
