The engine bay should be the same colour as the body work unless you mean the Engine?

Take a magnet to check for filler/rot. Check all common rust spots; sills, a-panels, boot floor, footwells, rear bins.

Putting a vin mumber on a public forum is not a good idea. I will hide parts of it.

Take a magnet to check for filler/rot.

Good idea but make sure you ask permission from the seller first though and if necessary put something between the magnet and the paintwork.

I wouldn't want someone potentially scratching my car checking for filler.

No, not as standard.
Earlier GTs may have them fitted as part of the Special Tuning 'S' pack that was available as an option but, don't think it was available on the later GTs.

The UK built ones were only single 1-1/2"  (HS4) SU, as mininuts has pointed out, however the Aust Built Clubman GT did have twin 1-1/4" (HS2) SUs, as per MKII Cooper S as standard.

A 1980 model? - No. Hydro was phased out in 1971, however I don't think the UK Clubman range was ever fitted with Hydrolastic.

<Edit: Yes, hydro was fitted to the early GTs but the last car fitted with it was S20D-8155A. All Aust GT production had it fitted to the end of GT production (December 1972). >
