should have two copper washers, one between the banjo bolt and the pipe and another between the pipe and the block...

Easy way to get them is to buy an engine gasket kit..

Yup......need to loosen the other end as well so you can swing it away to get the inner washer in.

Have a rag ready as well to catch the small amount of oil that will leak out.

I had one of these that pushed in had the daft rubber seals that came on the early SPi engines. I replaced the seals four times and in the end gave up and changed the pipe for a steel braided one with new banjo bolts and copper washers.

I think I got it from MiniSpares but it was 13 years ago. (Blimey, now I feel old, lol.)

An MG Metro doesn't have an olive sealed pipe.

The copper washers for the banjo are the same as the sump plug washer, should be able to get some at Halfords as Mini sump plug washers.
You don't need to slacken the oil filter end, the pipe will flex enough to slip the old washer out and the new one in. It is a good idea to clean the mating faces well though, in which case you should slacken off the lower fitting.
They leak because they harden and then if you disturb the flow pipe for any reaon they don't seal up well again. You could try to re-anneal the washers you have but for the price of a couple of new ones it's not really worth it.

do u think using some plumbers jet blue plus would be ok for adding a paste type sealant between the washers or does it need to be a dry seal?

Don't use any sealant, you don't need to. If you do then some of it will get through into the oil filter and block it up really well. Even worse it could well get trough the filter if it hits the bypass valve and into the engine. Annealed copper washers seal perfectly if they aren't hardened.
