Should I Change To A 1275 Engine Or Just Upgrade Parts On My 998?

I want more power and speed, as does everyone, so I gathered getting a 1275 engine and putting stage kits on it will get me where I want to be. Biggest problem is finding a 1275 engine! I don't have a huge budget for the restoration so I can't afford any fancy recon engines.
So could I just change things on my 998 engine to get similar performance?
Just want peoples advice and opinions on what I should do, maybe where to look for engines or just how to go about it all really.
Any help and advice would be appreciated
Thanks!
Best outcome is if anyone has one for sale of course...

If the budget is tight stick with the 998 I doubt you could get 1275 performance from a 998 without spending a lot! and no Mini is 'fast' compared with modern cars!
Whatever you choose enjoy it

But I'm saying out of personal experience spend the money on the 1275cc much easier to get decent power out of

fast compared to modern cars? Maybe a twingo.. A mini is outrun when you go over 100k h easily. And there are lots of ouder Italianen cars wich can keep up in the bends and have torque on the straight ..(take a strada 130 for example) Sorry to bust the Dreams.. As peter says: no fast mini's, only not so slow mini's :)My mini is fast compared to modern cars......

Lol I hate people like you,
Anything can be fast with the right engineering......
120bhp in a 600kg car is fast compared to most modern cars.......

Yeah but big bucks to get that kinda power. That shell with engine is a bargain unless it was rebuilt by Stevie Wonder.
TBF, you can get 130bhp out of a standard metro turbo engine in good condition. A mild turbo 998 will give around 100 bhp easily. ![]()

Will built a turbo mini for £600
Big bucks ain't needed to build a quick mini,
You lot need to get this fact out of your head and experiment a little we ain't stuck in the 80s anymore
Also the shell is shagggedddd just buy it for the engine and sell the shell on
