Some do up quicker than others.
Some are shiny.
Some have bits that are great for taking skin off knuckles
Jubilee are the ones everyone's heard of.

Any that are the correct size for the job.

Like the modern spring ones.

I only use SS hoseclips, I find it worth paying a bit more for quality, such as these: http://www.carbuilde...teel-hose-clips

These are all a good and recommended style;-

I gotta say though (sorry mate), I prefer plated steel over stainless steel screw type clamps. Stainless is fine, however they don't tale well to being done up and un-done too many times, only about 2 maybe 3 goes.

for low pressure, small hose applications, these are good

similar to above, but higher (not high though!) pressure;-

Now, who ever the sick, twisted, pitiful,  moron was who invented these utter crappy things;-

I DON'T share his / her humour.

Despite what they look like and what they are generally sold as, they are NOT hose clamps but a poor excuse for a tool to cut hose with. Don't even look at them.

+1 on them little suckers. They're grate........yes grate. Because that what they do, grate the hose to bits.
If yo must have them, get the injection hose type, they don't have the holes in contact with hose.

If the budget will run to them (and they aren't that expensive) Mikalor every time. Far better than Jubilee clips.

I use them as exhaust clamps too as they are far better than the standard offerings there as well.

ABA clamps (second one down in the pictures above) are the supperior style of clamp in my opinion as when they tighten they retain their shape and and dont have bits that stick into the hose

Mikalor are still better in my opinion. They also retain their shape and provide even clamping but they are far beefier in the bigger sizes and the "swing out" section under the bolt means they are a doddle to fit and remove without dis-connecting the hoses.

Not even looked at prices there - just gives a good picture. Some places charge silly money for them but they can be had in plated and stainless form for sensible money from proper trade suppliers.
