Refitting 998Cc A + Con Rods To Crankshaft

Best Answer Spider , 09 July 2015 - 06:18 PM

If you have the Crank fitted and then look down each bore, you'll see which way the Crank Pin is offset. The Con Rod Bolt Heads 'face' towards the Camshaft side of the Block. So, from those two pointers, you should be able to work it out. Here's a sketch all the same.

Be aware too that most of the small bore Pistons have an off-set Gudgeon Pin, so it's also important to get them on the right way. These always have an Arrow on the Crown, sometimes though, it can be hard to see! The Arrow always points to the front (water pump) end of the block.

Hi there, when I stripped the engine, I failed to keep a note of how the con rods were connected to the crankshaft. Looks like they can be installed back to front, so I need to know how to reassemble them. Anyone got any photos of an assembled con rod on a crank? Many thanks!
