My 1275 of 1992 have had a new accelerator cable, but the pedal movement is still sticky.

I've checked the trottle movement with the cable attachedto the carburettor but not the pedal and everything goes smooth.

Checked the bronze bushing in the firewall (where the cable goes in) and that is OK.

The spot where the cable comes out of the firewall and going to the pedal is perfectly in-line, but once attached to the pedal it does not move smooth.

I'm lost and see no other obstructions, but it's verry anoying, once you want to accelerate it goes with a jump.

Anyone having a solution?

Thanks,

Have you checked the pedal movement without the cable attached?

I've found that this can happen if the cable outertubing is not routed on to the carb properly. Have a quick look on google images for pics of how the cable runs on to the carb and that yours is the same.

Pedal mouvement is OK without attachement.

You could try taking out the cable and spraying some wd40 down the outer. Maybe the cables fouling as it moves inside the outer and only happens when its all connected.

I've tried different routings, but no changes, currently it's routed in the best possible way , but still sticky.

I'm puzzled ......

Today took the new accelerator cable out, greased the inner cable, put it back and everything moves smoothly.

Attached one end to the hif38 carburettor (the throttle moves freely) and pulled the inner cable from the other end,   is OK

checked the pedal movement, no problem there and the spot where the inner cable comes out the firewall hole and meets the pedal is spot on lined-up.

Once the cable is attached to the pedal, it is still a bit sticky, especially from zero to mid position of the pedal.

Are there no alternatives........?

The pivots on the pedal are very crude and can catch through wear. The other classic, is the cable standing in for broken earth straps and arc welding itself to the outer. DSN do a well posey alloy pedal that'll empty yer piggy bank.

Like I wrote, the pedal (Pivot) itself moves freely and was given a bit of oil again.

The whole car is coming out of a total restoration, so there is a new earth strap fitted.

I Had the same problem. Show US a pic of how the throttle cable is connected on yours, it needs to go under the cam to prevent caching, hope this solve it
