Would A Relay Stop Just One Indicator Flashing?

I've done a couple of tests with a multimeter and I'm getting no voltage at the bulb holder but then I wondered whether the relay would show such symptoms?

Are we talking about a later car with a relay fitted on the flasher circuit? or a earlier car with a flasher unit? I would be checking the bullet connectors behind the grill and checking for voltage there as my first port of call if you have no voltage on the centre pin on the lamp assy.

There is a fair amount of corrosion so I will clean that up and see. I've also run a wire to the middle if the bulb holder and the run the earth to a different point but nothing. I will check bullet connectors too

The same relay serves both sides so if one side is working normally it's not the relay.
If one whole side is out then it could be the switch, or if an individual bulb is out then it's more localised (holder or wiring to the holder).
It sounds like you have the latter of the two - you'll have to trace out the wires and see if there's either corrosion or a brake somewhere (or a combination of the two!).

The indicator lamp units on the front are renowned for water ingress. Take it off and look at the contacts, I bet they are corroded.
This was one of my first thoughts after the bulb as it odes need a clean up - Although I did bypass the holder with a couple of wires and it didn't light so I am guessing the wiring may be the issue

That to me says a break somewhere. Have you got a multimeter? If not it's worth getting one for these sorts of jobs as you can check continuity between lines.
I have - - Didn't have much chance to test last night as it was late when I got home but will start tracking back tonight

Well I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure I won't need a multimeter to tell me that this is the reason my indicator isnt working!
No idea what has cut through. I know the alternator is spinning away near it but the other wires are closer and not affected.

This is really odd - I have found another wire that looks like it has been cut through yet neither of them will reach the moving parts of the engine. For a moment I wondered whether someone had snipped them thorugh the grill but then remembered that this happened in the middle of a journey
