How do they go on? The shaft is out and the outer boot off but which way does the "small clip" section of the boot go? does it stay inside out / inverted and the clip goes on the inside so only the big clip is visible that connects to the pot joint / diff input part or do you make it sit like how the outer boot is and "unfold" the boot.

Just confused as one was done one way and the other done the other way when I removed them!

thanks

On all the ones I have seen or done the small securing band on the drive shaft is inside and the larger securing clip on the pot joint side is external

Hhhmmm having trouble getting the clip Tight, these metal clips are a pain! Tried a cable tie but when flipped over the block of the tie touches the boot and looks like it will just rub through

(Shhhhhh,,,,,, between you and me, I use tie wire, but don't tell anyone)

I will say, forget the nylon ties, the heads on them are too big and the first time the joint is spun through an angle, it will knock it off, possibly damaging the boot along the way.

Never again will i mess about with them metal bands... I will try some tie wire thanks..

Funny thing is, is it not better doing it the wrong way and unfolding the boot and using a cable tie in the next groove along the shaft? Seems safer as if it did come loose or move the tie wont lodge into the bearings / joint.. also the one that was installed wrong like that on my mini had very clean grease in it unlike the watery mess that was in the other side that was done proper way around
