Hi all, after being stuck in the world of vw's  for years I've now got myself a clubman estate that I'm doing up. Just after some advice on engine choice and who to buy from. I've got £4000 to spend on an engine and I'm looking at a 1380 fully rebuilt with a supercharger from jon speed racing. Any advise on engine choice and who to buy from will be great. sorry if this is in the wrong section didn't know if this was tech or mini chat.

Thats a nice amount for an engine   :D

Take a look at Swift Tune engines, if you re spending that much.

I can't personally recommend them, but on what I have seen and spoken to others about they are the full monty.

I've hard some good stuff about Jon Speed engines, but I would also take a look at Swift Tune engines, if you re spending that much.

I can't personally recommend either, but on what I have seen and spoken to others about they are the full monty.

Thanks will have a look into swift, just doing a bit of homework before I hand over a load of cash.

Ac Dodd, swift, med, Brett sims, sre at Amesbury are all well rated. Speak to them all and go from there.

Take a look on this forum for opinions re Jon speed...

£4k will buy something nice, but I wouldn't go 1380 personally. Minimal extra bhp and no more rebores without sleeving.

1293 With an 8.3:1 CR is ideal for SC

Go to VMax Scart for the charger.

If I'd got £4k to spend on an engine then I'd be dropping AC Dodd a PM for sure

I priced up a 1380 half engine from med using their steel billet crankshaft and Hbeam conrods and top spec pistons and that came to £3350.......to go with a 7 port head set up
