Yop

continuing my current quest to know more about minis which isn't hard as I know so little

what is the advantage of having a breather on the rocker box

they seem to come from an older engine but seem to be popular on

fast engines too

I'm not really all that knowleagable on 'pressure' in the engine but I do know that some gasses come into the rocker box area so how is venting them an advantage ?

nothing to do with gasses coming in to anywhere.

it is about allowing the pressure in the crank case to normalise as the crank and pistons move air is pumped about the engine the breathers allow this air to move. out or in.

Some had vented caps, so while it may not be obvious, there is one there.

Probably more to do with emissions and oil-laden gases exposed to the atmosphere ..

My 91 mini has a vented cap, releases the gases too :P
