I posted recently that I didn't get cranking oil pressure on my mini. I got some good advice such as do it with the plugs out etc, however I noticed recently (when I was testing something that involved cranking for a bit with the fuel pump supply disconnected) that I do now get good oil pressure, even with the plugs in - I mean it actually spins up to 60 psi on a cold engine just on the starter motor.

I'm not sure what if anything has changed, but it just made me wonder if this means anything in itself? ie is this just  a good sign of a healthy engine or does it suggest some sort of blockage, or does it really mean nothing?  Running oil pressures are good and what you would want - 70 + psi cold and warmish idle, 60 at idle after short / local driving, about 50 after a good amount of driving and about 45 after a long motorway thrash (all figures are at idle). Driiving is always 65-70 on a hot engine.

The oil pressure figures you give sound good.

Previous lack of pressure unlikely to be a blockage, possibly pressure relief valve not fully seated?

Yeah, my thoughts too.
