Can anyone help me with wiring my 2 speed wipers to a Lucas toggle switch?
The switch has terminals marked 1,4,6,7 & 8 and I have wire colours LGO,LGB,NLG, ULG,RLG
The annoying thing is that I had a diagram of how it should go from when I built my Cobra but I gave it to the new owner when I sold it.
Thanks
John

The problems with that answer are that I don't have a terminal 2 nor a green only wire and I have an additional Light green/Orange wire? Anyone else made the conversion?

Terminal 1 and 2 are the same.

To save me looking up the codes, what colour wires do you have at the switch and on the motor?

Hmm,,, maybe Dave can help here.

Some set-ups have live a live feed (via the key and fuse) to the switch and some have them to the motor. This is normally a (plain) Green wire. I can't see that on either the switch or the motor on yours.

What year and model is the Mini?

Mk1 would be a single speed wiper so the switch will be different.  However, there are probably wiper switches from other cars (maybe MGBs?) that might work with the 2-speed wiper motor.

I've got a Lucas off/on/on toggle switch which should do the job - I used the same type of switch before for 2 speed wipers on a Cobra replica - but I can't remember where I got the info on which terminals to use from so am stuck at the moment with a two weeks to finish the car deadline to work to _ HELP!

Still looking for a solution on this one please???? Also I have a new Mk1 indicator stalk (with green light) and can't work out the wiring.
I've got Green/Yellow, Green/White & Green purple which seem to be the indicator common and feeds but I also have a brown/black and green that I can't fathom. I'm getting rather desperate because I've only got 2 weeks to finish the car before taking it on a trip - Please help!!!

Hello John,

Just a suggestion for the wiper switch.

Do you have circuit tester? i.e. a screwdriver with a bulb in it & a crocodile clip on a cable.

You can make one crudely with a bulb, holder & some wire.

If you work out which is your positive supply wire connect that to the switch & see what other terminals it powers at different positions.

Do you have any MK1 wiring diagrams for the stalk?

All the stalk was capable of was indicators. Dip on the floor & horn on the steering wheel.

Sorry been busy in the w/shop just picked this up, I covered the wiring for the MK1 Flasher switch here in the FAQs where starngely enough no one looks or knows whats in there ?http://www.theminifo...flasher-wiring/

And below is the info I have on the Lucas 2 speed wiper wiring with a toggle switch, its common across quite a few cars Mini/MGB/Cortina, info I have collected and used in various kit cars over the years.

I'm more confused now!

  1. The diagrams show 4 wires at the wiper switch but I've got 5 (see original post)

The indicator stalk I've got is just that I believe (no capability to flash the lights?)plus one or two wires for the horn?

I rang MiniSport who supplied the stalk for a wiring diagram - 'we only sell them - no diagram')

Still more help needed if possible.

Discovered what the fifth wire is - a feed to the washer motor so I can discard it.

My main issue now is the designations of the indicator arm wires? - particularly the brown/black and green ones?
