We tried to bleed up the brake system tonight but couldn't get any pressure at the rears. Everything has been replaced except the brake limiter. So we're assuming that this what's at fault, I have done a bit of researching on here and seems that if you are a bit on the aggressive side with pedal pumping on a dry system then it can cause the brake limiter to do what its designed to do. I've ordered a new one so what I want to know is when I fit it would it be better to let gravity take the fluid through the system or can we pump the pedal to get the fluid through? Also is there a way to reset these valves? It's also worth stating that it's been sitting on a shelf for the last four years whilst I've been working on the shell!

Brake Limiter Valve Possibly Faulty

What type of brake limiter?
If it's the single line one mounted on rear subframe they are straightforward to check.

It's the type on the front bulkhead.

I'm watching this with interest because I'm trying to bleed my entire system (split type 4 master and bulkhead limiter) at the moment without success.
The pedal goes down but is reluctant to come back up - the odd small bubble is pushed through the tube into the jar of fluid on the rear corner I've started with.

Dont use an Eezibleed kit(im old school!)
Check the caliper bleed nipples are at the top
Adjust rear brakes so the drum cant be turned by hand
BLEED SEQUENCE::(as viewed facing engine)
Right rear
Left rear
Right front
Left front
Now::
Loosen the output pipes of the limiter valve until fluid weeps, re tighten
Loosen the output pipes from the 'T' piece until fluid weeps, retighten,
Finally bleed the system, keep checking fluid level!!
Hope this helps guys!

Cheers Cal, that's kinda what we did. Oniy things were we didn't adjust up the rear brakes until we couldn't turn the drums, also we did at one stage use an air assisted bleeder to try and pull the fluid through. We did do the same sequence though. When i get the new limiter I'll be fitting it then loosening off the unions and letting gravity take the fluid through it, as you suggest.

Watch out for rubber brake hoses that have collapsed internally. They can make the system do strange things

I've replaced them all with goodrich braided, the limiter valve was about the only bloody thing that wasn't replaced!
