I broke the small plastic screw that holds the lead from the dizzy into the coil. Any ideas on where I can get a replacement ? or just a good fix that bypasses the need for it, such as soldering the lead into the coil ?

I do not understand which part is broken.  Can you post a picture of the part?  If not, can you find a similar picture of a coil and dizzy and post a link to it with text explaining what part broke while referring to the picture?

Sounds like a early coil Doug with the screw in fitment on the coils HT lead, they used to come with the coil, you can buy a new coil here, http://www.simonbbc....67219928ed71b45

unless you can find one then you cant really solder the lead in.

Make sure you buy the correct length as the acorns as they are called come in two different lengths and you need the long one for a coil, not one for a distributor cap.

It never occurred to me that this could be a 1960s coil.

I found the part listed as 408120.  I found several new and used ones on eBay.co.uk.

and... new at AES

http://www.autoelect...coil-1929-p.asp

I have bought from AES before.

and at Holden.co.uk
