Another close battle here, it`s the 3rd of the trio of 3 which is the last one (little bit of Murray Walker there, lol) and worth a watch.

I used to go to Brands to watch the rally cross. It always took place in the winter months so it was always slippery, even on the tarmac. I remember seeing the Escort Xtrac for the first time, it just left the Porsche 911s, which were the quickest at the time, behind in it's wake. Then when Group B was banned in rallying all the group b cars got thrashed on the rally cross circuits. It made for a great spectacle. I have a bunch of old snaps somewhere.

 

I now visit Croft for my rally cross fix, there's two meetings this year, one in October and one in November

Thanks for more great Rally cross action   used to enjoy racing at Croft Boxing Day in the late 70s

Don Gilham's Mini-Ford was a Lotus Twin Cam 1650cc.
