Hi, reading my Mini Repair Manual 1992-1996, it says to use a cord in the rubber to pull the lip over the glass, but i've always understood you don't use a cord on a Mini as it tears the rubber.
So can you use a cord or not?

A nylon cord will do the job fine.
I have never heard of tearing rubbers using cord..

Hi, thanks for your replies.
I've just looked at the Haynes repair manual and it says fit the rubber to the screen first and then insert a cord into the rubber and fit glass with rubber to car and pull cord ?
I take it most people fit the screen using peter-b method?

I'm going to have to try the other way now then.
I hadn't thought it possible to do it like that. using the cord is just how i was shown.

did mine the other day to fit a new headlining, never used a cord, just seal on opening window in locking strip in. although, after i did it, both locking strips where over an inch too short, which I thought was odd, anyone else had that?
