Hi everyone, I'm in the process of rebuilding a 1990 city from a bare shell and have nearly finished although I have a strange wiring occurrence now after livening up the old girl for the first time and wondered if anyone could offer some suggestions please.

Upon connecting the battery i immediately had the indicators flashing, the indicator stalk was knocked down so returned it to the centre and didn't think anything of it, then tried to spin her over and she spun over.

I appear to have 12v permanently at the coil even with the key removed, and circuits on the 1 and 2 fuse spades appear to operate (indicators, brake lights etc) again with no key or ignition on. The loom is a new loom from Autosparks and was modified to remove the ballast wire, as intend to run electronic ignition in the future but other than this is standard.

Any pointers or places to check I would be most grateful.

Thanks

Bit tricky to diagnose without being there, but try disconnecting items till power goes off. Try ignition switch plug first then move down the line. Might be worth rechecking you have plugs on/in right connections, I know you've probably done it already but its either that or the harness is made wrong. You could phone then for assistance....maybe?

Thanks Peter b, I'll start with the ignition switch and see what I can find, I can't turn it over now, just clicks the relay but nothing from the starter.

Turned out to be the fuse box which was supplied wrong. There was a link between positions 3 and 1 causing permanent live. The fuse box turned out to be an additional fusebox type and not the standard lucas fuse box. A quick cut of the link between 1 and 3 has solved the problem.
