Hi all,

Currently fitting thenew MPI Cooper S Kit and having taken the head off its really oily undeneath. Is this normal? The head is being replaced, so if that caused the problem, then it doesn't really matter, but would like to know.

As oil is fed up to the head through the block and drains back via the block when you split the head gasket it goes everywhere.

You need to clean it all up and fo the rest of the prep work.

It's probably been 40,000 since I last took the head off. It all cleaned up nicely and the new head is on. 😁
