I'm trying to identify what breed of pistons I have for ordering rings. Om the top they have the 72.096 and .060" markings for the size along with sp0.04. On the inside they're marked 070136 +1+ and on the other 1275. When I go on minispares then I can't seem to find them or an equivalent, and when I google it then all I get is Briggs and Stratton!! I've also got 12g1507/8 172 rods attached to them. Help please!

What Pistons Do I Have?!

You can measure the ring lands which will determine what sort of rings you need...
First of all is it a 3 or 4 ring piston

I had a go at measuring the piston tonight, I had to do a bit of improvising as my verniers couldn't fit into the groves for the top three rings, it's a four ring piston, I'm not going to tell you how I did it as you'll probably suck air in through your teeth and shake your head!! If these are not accurate enough them tell me and I'll give it another go. The top ring seat had a height of 1.75mm and dia at the bottom of the grove of 65.4mm, the next two groves had the same dia of 65.4mm but the height was 1.65mm on both of them. The bottom grove had a dia of 62.6mm and a height of 4mm ( I was able to get the vernier into this grove!) Hope this makes some sense to you Guessworks!

Given the metric markings along with the sp.04 (which sounds like the running clearance in mm), I'd say almost certainly they'll be AE.

Ahh, Think a light has just switched on! Does AE have a logo that's a funny kinda squiggle design that looks like AE in a squinted eyes kinda way?!!! There's certainly a logo on the piston that could look like AE, I'm gonna go and google it to see what it looks like!

Think I've found what I could be needing on the minispares website, RA21576-40, although when I click on it it shows 60+. Maybe a simple phone call will get me an answer!
