Mine ended up in the bin, bloody thing. Circuit board went on the fritz and even our leckies at work could not bring it back to life.

Surely somebody must be close to pop round to check it out for him.

I had the 130 and it never worked well even brand new out of the box. They suffer terribly with wire feed problems.

mine was only ever used a small handful of times before it went down the tip. I did contemplate selling it as it was like new but i couldn't let someone else suffer with it.

To the OP, perhaps consider getting a better welder.I don't mean that to sound rude but is it worth spending money on parts for a machine that's only going to cause more problems?

They are stupidly unreliable..

I know that on the bigger sets a faulty rectifier can give very similar symptoms,

Thanks for the suggestions guys.
Ben, no offence taken buddy, you are a wealth of knowledge. I have considered buying another one, but I'm on a tight budget anyway as I recently found out I'm to be a dad. Hence the need to get going on this as the new arrivals room is full of new and refurbed mini parts waiting for the body to be done! It's a bit of luck my wife is understanding and likes mini's to. I also have a 130 version which was rubbish out of the box aswell, but I might borrow the torch off of that for some trouble shooting to see what's what.
Thanks again guys. I'll see what I can do tommorow, it's just so frustrating.

So I have progress.
Basically I've managed to repair my old 130 with bits from the wire feeding system from the 150.
It seems like I'm back in business and the 150 definately needed a new torch as this is so much better.
Here's a pic of a bit I tried quickly on some scrap:

Penetration:

If anyone has any more tips to improve my welding, then I'm happy to listen and give them a go, but I can get cracking again now.
Thanks everyone.

Penetration is fine although still a bit of splatter. Try a bit more gas to see if it clears it up.

That looks more like it, a bit of fine tuning now and you will be there, glad you managed to get something sorted.

I've had a play around tonight on some test pieces and I think I've got it dialled in power wise, so I had a go at getting the heelboard welded in. Got it half done, just need to get the subframe back out to finish it. I think my welding is better upside down!
