My 1989 mini thirty seems to gradually drift to the right but under braking it is no longer a gradual drift but a sharp pull the right to the point where i have to turn left to stop the car going onto the opposite side of the road.

Could be a dragging brake caliper on the right and the l/h caliper may not be working correctly.

I'd say something in the suspension or pretty work, maybe ball joints, steering arm loose, worn rubbers. Checked the tyre pressures?
