i have a 1978 mini 1000 and the vin has matched to the decoder online apart from the last letter, the assembly location, on the decoder it only shows the last letter to be "a" which indicates it was assembled at longbridge but the last letter on my vin is a "b" does anyone know where my car was assembled? I always thought it was assembled at longbridge as are most minis!:)

B = Belgium. There was an assembly plant at Seneffe.

Doesn't make much difference although Belgian cars always seemed to rust worse than UK cars. Mini's and Allegros were assembled in Belgium for the UK market - probably when they were on strike at Longbridge.

Seneffe story here
http://www.aronline....uction-seneffe/

Seneffe assembled Minis from CKD parts shipped from Longbridge along with the addition of some local parts e.g. Headlamps.
CKD is Car Knock Down, I.e. All the parts required to assemble a vehicle, either as a complete car kit in a box or just supplied parts.
