Evening guys

I'm trying to get as many opinions on something as i can.

Me and my partner have decided to move back to Cornwall after 15 years away.

We cant afford to buy so we've decided to rent for a year or so while saving for a deposit. We've found the perfect place with everything we need and for a fantastic price.
Now, to pay the rent, we obviously need jobs, but theres no point getting the jobs if we dont get the house, and theres no point committing to signing for the house, without the jobs to pay for it.

We've each got a couple of interviews in the next 3 weeks, but to secure the house, we need to give the estate agents an answer this coming week.

So to sum up a rather long question, is it better to commit to house, then focus on the jobs, or secure the jobs, and risk missing out on the house? There are no other houses within 15 miles of where we need to be either.

Any help is fantastic

Cheers
Rob

You need a job first.

There'll be other houses. If you can't pay the rent you'll lose the house anyway

We can pay the first 2 months rent without earning money, and if the missus doesnt get one job, she will definitely get the other as its an internal transfer. And i'm 99% sure i can find a job within 4-6 weeks.

I only have to give a weeks notice, the missus has to give 3 weeks unless she takes the transfer, in which case its pretty much an instant swap. She'll finish on the friday, and start again on the monday

In that case, take the house. A year ago, I had to move from Bournemouth to Bedfordshire for work (which was a rubbish decision by the way!) but I couldn't find a decent house, at a decent price. Went to look at the one I am in now, and based on how quickly everything else was going (this wasn't just estate agents lagging it - things were going within 12 hours or so of appearing in a couple of cases) I just made a snap decision and went for it. Fortunately, it worked out ok and its a nice house and I am definitely glad I took this one compared to some I looked at.

I really would love to move back to Bournemouth but house prices are really high there and there is not a great deal of work for me either. Go for it!

The problem we're facing at the moment, is being to able to get down there for interviews and possibly trial days and what not. Its a long way to go for a trial shift, especially when working around our current jobs
