Hi folks
The dreaded MOT is due in 4 weeks and my battery box is in a bit of a mess rust wise. I'm confident that it can safely hold the weight of the 075 battery and I can confidently poke at it with my finger without it going through but it does have a tiiiny hole in it and looks rusty. Will this be an instant MOT failure? How easy are battery boxes to replace or Can I just weld a plate to the bottom? (Rest of boot floor is rust free) Of course ideally I want it sorted properly but I was hoping to lob him through his MOT before starting any bodywork. Wishful thinking perhaps!
Any advice appreciated.

Jamie

To get through the MOT I would show willing and wirebrush/treat/paint the box inside and out. They are not allowed to remove the battery, so concentrate on the underside.
Once you get the mot you can finish at your leisure

Hi Lee, the hole is in the box the battery sits in. I don't have a battery box liner or anything like that.
Cheers

Awesome, I didn't realise they wouldn't remove the battery (although in hindsight that seems pretty obvious!) I can make it look pretty enough to pass I think and I know it's safe at the mo.
Cheers!

As above wire brush it, bit of kurust, and a lick of paint sealing up the holes. The mot man can't move or stick a screwdriver in to see if it's rusty.
