I have an Austin 1300 gt engine and gearbox which I believe is the same as a mkii cooper s. I was thinking about changing the cam for a fast road one. Any suggestions ?

The 1300GT was around 70bhp claimed when new so I would say you already have a fast road cam, what is the aim of changing? once you start fitting wilder cams you need a lot of engine work to go with it

The 1300GT is a good basis for a 'fast' road engine, but it's not the same as a Mk2 Cooper S.

The 1300GT uses same block as the Austin/Morris 1300, but with drillings for the extra stud & bolt to suit '11 stud' head. The 1300GT head was same as the late Mk3 Cooper S. Crank is same dimensions as Austin/Morris 1300, but should be factory tuftrided version.

The 1300GT cam was the same as Austin/Morris 1300, so could benefit from slightly longer profile MG Metro or Kent MD266. And if you want bit more mid-range and top end power use higher lift rockers.

1300GT gearbox internals have the useful closer ratio helical 4-syncro gearset, but the remote alloy fixes to the box with rubber sandwich rather than being bolted on. The output shafts will have rubber joints unless you have a very late 1300GT box which were pot joints.
