Hi, so my mini van is almost there, MOT'd, painted - looking very pretty and driving very straight. Just a few more things to fettle.  Number 1 is setting up the choke on the HIF carb properly.  Even the SU tuners book is pretty vague on this one.  The problem is to get any choke at all I have to pull it out to a ridiculous length.  I have tried adjusting it at the Carb end but I am frightened of running around with it rich all the time.  I can't see an arrow on the choke control on the carb.  Any advice?  Full choke should be about 3 inches out from the dash shouldn't it?

thanks

Adam

The arrow on the cam is for setting the fast idle only. The Hif choke is a separate "jet", the little hole you can see between the jet proper and the throttle, if you remove the dash pot 'n piston.

It may just need stripping and cleaning, or it could need new seals.
