my van was stolen on the 30th August from the Elmers end area, more a warning to anyone with a minivan or mini in this area as a blue mini van was stolen from crystal palace only a few weeks earlier so it would appear there is a gang at work in the area.

Yeah unfortunately the police don't seem very interested in car crime to quote a dci "there is no deterrent for car crime" even though when i reported it they said it will appear on cctv as nothing can get in or out of the bromley borough without them knowing about it ( an idle boast it would seem). Then a few hours later the words where "we have no leads as to where the vehicle has gone or who took it" and this has ended any action the police are taking so it would appear that crime pays in the uk. The next fun bit is the interrogation from the insurance company sorry i mean interview

It would seem so and unfortunately i see no sign of it stopping until such time as the police actually do something about it, i have everything crossed for its safe return, though realistically i see myself starting another project hopefully another minivan next year.

I just cant believe they dont take it seriously they will only moan when the whole thing will get out of control and team of people start or continue taking more cars and they will have to do something by that point there will be loads of people without their pride and joys :( just crazy.

Hope things like insurance in place for people properly.  I would be heart broken if my estate got taken, ok its not in the bed nick and needs a full resto really but not the point at all :(

Fingers crossed it comes back mate.... think I passed you and you passed me a few times coming down the motorway on l2b this year :)

I can believe that, the dci didn't sound particularly happy hence their comments about there isn't any deterrent against car crime which given the way things are going at the moment it won't change ( i am guessing they like us have government targets they must reach and everything else comes second to it? )

My wife says it's not policing anymore and not what she signed up for 18 years ago
But I do wish you the best of luck I have a van I used to take the steering wheel off when I left it anywhere lol

My mate is a copper in the Met, he says he cant wait till he retires (couple of years time) as its more about targets and form filling rather than catching criminals these days.  It was the same when I left the Army 2 yrs ago - the fun police had visited many years ago and sucked all the joy out of what you did, being a bit of a lad and have a few too many changed from 'being a character' to being a trouble maker and they started turfing people out!

I really do hope that you get your car back with no damage, I think I would be glad to see a happy ending story as I can only recall one car getting back to their owner in past 2 yrs :mmkay: ??

Good luck mate
