Just wanted to introduce myself, I've owned 3 of the BMW MINIS ranging from the cooper, countryman and JCW in the past but have finally gotten what I've always wanted, a classic.  I have a 1998 Cooper Japanese spec and have very quickly discovered what a strange duck this little mini is and how much of a challenge picking the right parts for it can be.  Anyway, I'm glad I've found this forum and look forward to conversing with my fellow mini enthusiasts!  Name's Dean and here is a shot of me and my Japanese buddy the day I picked it up from its journey to get here.
