I'm looking at places to put some speakers in my van, and the door pockets are pretty big. what I'm wondering is if the magnet on the speaker will attract little bits of metal, scratching my paintjob on the outside, or is this stupid? I suspect i'm worrying too much, but I want to be sure. What size speaker would be best? I would have thought a 5" would fit best, and give best quality sound? Finally, what make would be best? I have infinitys in my other car and they're great. Thanks for your help.

Holy thread revival!

This is only a mere 20 years ago, but has anyone ever fitted speakers in mk1 doors.

I’ve been contemplating putting speakers in the doors, but it would mean cutting holes in the door pockets, which I don’t really want to do.

I was thinking of making a custom housing that sits at the top of the door, but couldn’t find anything that exists. Maybe with 3D printing it might now be doable.

Answers on a postcard, hopefully quicker than 20 years…
