Hello there,

I bought my lovely green mini this year and she only came with one manual non-fob key.

I bought a 'full' key from ebay making sure my year and model was listed as being compatible as I wanted to have a fob with the remote locking buttons.

The key arrived and the autolocksmith came round and cut the blade and made sure it was synced with the immobiliser.

That all works fine and I can use the key in the ignition..

HOWEVER

Apparently the key should have come with a bar code that would enable him to get the remote locking part working.

It didn't and now I am stuck having paid £105 for basically a spare key that I still have to manually lock and unlock.

Does anyone here know if I can get a barcode from somewhere?

I have contacted Mr Ebay but no answer as of yet.

Thank you in advance!

H

If its a spare key would manual opening not be ok?

^^^

The OP already has a manual key that will become the spare once the remote locking one is coded.

I'd call in at an independent mini place, I'll bet they can sort it in no time.

A genuine remote key from my local MINI Dealer was £130 including the coding to my 2002 MINI a couple of years ago.

My 60 plate BMW came with just one key - I only had to show some proof of ownership at a main dealer and they punched some computer keys and a fully working key fob arrived a couple of days later, they synced it and all - but it cost the £130 like above too.
