Hi folks,

This is one for the rally enthusiasts and historians amongst us. There are 3 reproduction works exhausts on the market that I can see: two from Maniflow (one crimped, one oval), and one from Somerford (oval).

Is the Somerford one the same exhaust as the one made by Maniflow? It says that it is "made for Somerford Mini by the original supplier to Special Tuning"

My next question is what diameter are they, and will they fit onto a Maniflow Cooper Freeflow manifold? Or will I need the little adapter if they're the same diameter?

That would be a major help, thank you! Do you know which exhaust manifold you have? And also, just what do you think of it in general?

There were many different manifolds used by the 'works' rally cars over the years.

The early Mk.1 Coopers had the crimped manifolds, then along came the Cooper 's' and they had a simple 3-branch followed by the LCB.

Of course, whether they were running in Group 1 or Group 2 made a difference as well.

I guess you pay your money & take your choice really.

Thanks, I realise there was a lot of evolution over the years they were competing. Is this like the simple 3 branch manifold you mentioned?

This was the original  Cooper(S) manifold.  Not sure if the Works cars used them however

Yes indeed, that's the crimped one and I had one of those on my then-new 1964 998 Cooper. I remember it snapped at the lower bend and had to be welded up. The tubular ones are much stronger.
