No, the alternator pulley should not get hot. Are there any signs of the drive belt slipping?

Have you checked belt tension, and does it squeal when all lights are on and battery is low?

IS the alternator pulley square and inline to the other pulleys?

Hi would disagree with the above.

An alternator makes heat at the same time as it make a current. And some heat can get transmitted to the pulley. And 120F is only 50 C

That sounds like a slipping belt.  How old is the belt?  The belt is properly tensioned?

The pulley will get warm even if the belt is not slipping - if you think about what a section of the belt does it goes in and out the V in the pulley many times a second and so the enevitable friction will reault in heat. Obviously if there is slippage more heat. It sounds like you may need to sort a slipping belt, but if the belt's not slipping, the tension is correct, pulleys running in the same plane and not damaged - and the pulley is still getting warm I wouldn't be concerned.
