Hi all,

Need to remedy a rusty number plate hole on my MPI boot lid, but the question is, were the holes for the boot lid number plate drilled at the factory, or at the dealership that put the original number plate on...?

If they weren't drilled, what's the best way of sticking the number plate to the boot lid?

Cheers

JQ

When I worked at an Audi dealership we used to use sticky pads.

As long as the surfaces were clean and dry they used to stick very well.

Number plates were dealer fit. (Which is why they are usually badly done :D)

As numbers differ so does the positioning to make the screws unobtrusive.

My 94 and 95 SPi both did not have any holes in the boot. Plates were held on with sticky pads.

Yes, sticky pads, plenty of them too, is how they should have been fixed.  So many have been drilled though with the inevitable rust as a result !
