I often take my mini for a good blast down a nearby twisty national limit back road and while it is the most fun you can have with your trousers on, I always feel slightly guilty when I see the tacho reading 5500 or so as daft as it sounds! I love my mini so much and while I want to have fun and give it the occasional blast I don't want to hurt my baby!

Anyone else find they can't help feeling just a bit guilty after giving the old a series the beans? Haha :)

On a side note, she does seem to always drive well after being opened up...

nope I love it and mine revs out a bit more than yours. I always respect the speed limits in the small villages near me as I drive through.

I know what you're saying brother! On the one hand I want to cosset my expensively rebuilt engine, on the other hand I just want to rag it 'because it goes so damn well now! :D

I like to  hang onto the gears too. No idea what it's revving to, but it sounds great.

Little blip between 4th to 3rd or 3rd to 2nd changes. Beautiful.

I never feel guilty revving hard, but i do feel guilty when i forget to slow the box down enough and end up crunching down into 2nd gear - i apologise every time lol

I'm sure your Mini will let you know if it thinks it's getting harmed ;-)

3rd is the most used gear on my Cooper Sport, very rarely sees 4th when out on a spirited drive, and that's on the 60mph A roads :-)

I never feel guilty, i observe the speed limits at all times but, using all the gears to the max to hit the speed limit is fun. I use a tarmac track about 3/4s a mile long up to a friends farm. I always let him know when i am coming but he can here me coming before i hit his track, four good bends and open grassland on either side allows me to get sideways nicely providing his cows have not pooed on it before hand, been off it twice ( poo slides i call it ) with no damage at all.

I don't drive fast at all in my Mini, but when I had my other Mini on the road I made sure it was properly warmed up before driving hard.

So once warmed and with decent oil, there is no need to feel guilty if the revs are sensible.

I sometimes feel guilty when having fun in BMW M3, but only because the speed limits can be exceeded quite quickly!  :whistling:

Thanks for all the replies! - good thing I was going steady today, I went down the road I like to have fun on today and I was going around a blind corner when a new range rover came blasting around two cyclists on the corner! He nearly went head on into me the t***! Upon slamming the breaks on weirdly the back locked up rather than the front and I pretty much slid out of his way! Just a reminder that you have to always expect some prat to appear at the worst possible time! - stay safe everyone!
