hello
its sounds like you are on about sound deadening pads, looks like tar stuff you use on roofs, no easy way of getting it off im afraid just start scraping, its weighs a bit but its very usefull for stopping all the road noise etc.

If you scrape all that C**p off you WILL damage the panel by leaving scrape marks through the outside of it and cracking the paint all over. Not worth it in your case, you'd save more weight by leaving your coat at home. And as Simon suggests those panels really drum without it on. Why do you want to do it Adam?

cheers 200sxsimon and Dan.

i wanted to scape it off as i also wish to get rid of the old cards that are there. they got some big holes in (the old cards) and the pannels still look good so i thought i'd just have the pannels showing. Or should i just go looking for new cards for the pannels?

Isn't he talking about the black square of sponge like material? Not the tar sound deadening?

Still.....Not worth messing about with!Leave it be!

if its attached to the door card then it doesnt matter but if its attached to the actual metal work of the car best leave it alone.

Go to b&q, buy some board, trace your current door cards, cover with nice material from a fabric shop... Voila!

Cheap door cards ;D
