Myself and a couple of freinds have just clubbed together and bought a sykes pickavant fault code reader,i have a spi and they have a couple of mpis,my question is today we tested it out and it worked fine on my spi with the rover 1 pod but would not communicate with the mpi using the  pod 2 so i am thinking we need the rover pod 3 can anyone confirm this for me please before they buy one as they are quite pricey although they hope to sell the pod 2 if possible, thanks.

I was quite pleased with mine though it hasnt been scanned for years and the only fault that showed was the inlet air temp sensor which i replaced a few years ago and repaired the wiring for at the same time although oddly after clearing that and rescanning a bit later a fault showed up for the throttle pot which was also new a few years ago as well but it drives fine so  think i can ignore these.

Even the lambda seemed ok giving similar readings to the sykes info in the instuction book.

Rover pod 2 doesn't do the mini MPi.
You need V3 or later and the correct lead see my thread here http://www.theminifo...e-reader/page-8
Re-occurring faults point to a problem (could be wiring)

If you want to do the airbags as well you need V4 or V5, I don't think V3 does the airbags.

Thanks for that its as i thought then we have the wrong mpi pod,we have the correct leads though for both mpi/spi so we will pucchase the correct rover 3 pod as soon as one turns up at a reasonable price and hopefully sell the rover 2 pod to pay for it.

As for the faults on my spi (inlet air temp) i think i will ignore it for now as it runs fine apart from hunting a bit on idle as it warms up,as soon as its up to temp its a lot better and i repaired the wiring a while back and replaced the sensor as well.the throttle position sensor that came up after clearing the first fault i think is a red herring as it was also replaced a few years ago and it has no flat spots etc and it wasnt there during the first scan (in years!)
