Hi all,

Thinking of having the walnut door cappings on my car relaquered at some point as they've suffered the usual delamination etc.

As part of the process, the little strip of fabric that is attached to the back of the capping to sit in the gap between it and the window would have to be removed. Does anyone know what this fabric would be called or where to get it? I'm sure someone who has had their dashboard refurbished might know, as the material the seals the dash onto the rail seems to be similar (not sure if it is, ofc).

All the aftermarket replacements just don't seem to bother with these bits of fabric for some reason, which seems a bid shoddy from an aesthetic point of view.

Thanks

Jacob

Ihave the walnut door cappings in front and back. It was originally supplied without any fabric strips.

The only thing I did was to grind the sharper parts of the capping with 600 grinding paper to get it smooth.

4 years ago I fixed it and since then have not noticed any problems.

Mini totally delaminated- I opted to strip them back to the base (its extruded aluminium) and re cover them in a vinyl wrap.

Not that I envisage any problems with not having the fabric, as such - but it was put there for a reason after all. It's more more aesthetics and making sure that it's all in keeping with how they were originally.

I know there are many other options to refinish the tops with something else like a wrap etc, but my car is quite original, so I'm looking to keep it that way.
