hello guys, I crashed my mpi the other night quite badly into a dry stone wall, it has pushed the drivers side front corner right in and twisted my shell to the extent of it being jigged, my question is , do I get it jigged and restore it? do I sell it and try and get some money for another mini, or buy another shell and use my old parts and engine? the engine that's in it is fine even after the crash and has only covered a genuine mileage of 5000 as it was purchased still on a pallet from rover brand new, any help is much appreciated

sorry to hear about that.
First of all, have you got any pictures of the damage to share with us so we can get a better idea?
What was the pre-accident condition? Was there much rust etc?

I will get pictures shortly, the car was in good condition, the floors are mint, boot is good, under engine bay was good until the accident, the only things I was going to do was put new a panels , wings and front panel on it, also from the crash it has pushed my front subframe floor mounts up through the floor

If you decide on the re-shell route, it is only legal to do it with a new BMH shell and to be honest, they leave a lot to be desired quality wise especially for the money they are.
Nothing is un-repairable. And whatever the damage is, it will most likely still be much cheaper t repair what you have than to replace the shell, especially if the rest of the shell is as good as you say.
How do the doors fit? Do they drag on the catches? is there any visible deformation to the door openings and/or have the door gaps closed up?
Let's have a look at the photos first and we will have a much better idea.
cheers

the backs of the doors where they meet the rear quarter has closed up, barely fit a hair between the crack ,

It doesn't look too bad from those photos.
It shouldn't be too hard to straighten the shell and repair it.
Have you got any pictures of the toeboard/front floor area? Perhaps also the closed door gaps if you can.
The first thing to do would be to get the measuring tape out

If the roof skin is rippled too then there will defiantly be a lot more than meets the eye and a repair will be much more difficult.
still do-able though.
Is the door-quarter panel gap tighter on the passenger side than the drivers side?

That's totally repairable and not badly damaged at all but if you're determined to get rid I'll give you £500 for it
